About this project
Located directly on Boston Harbor, the Seaport Hotel occupies a prominent position within a district that has transformed rapidly over the past decade. As new towers, restaurants, and cultural venues reshaped the neighborhood, the hotel needed a renewed identity that could organize its expansive offerings while retaining its established logo. The challenge was to bring cohesion to lodging, dining, meetings, weddings, wellness, and waterfront programming without resorting to nautical cliché.
The solution began with place. Drawing from historic navigation charts, harbor mapping systems, and seafaring graphics, we developed a visual language that references Boston’s maritime legacy without becoming decorative. Lines, grids, and directional motifs echo chart markings and harbor coordinates, providing structure across materials and environments.
A softened coastal palette introduces sea glass blues, weathered neutrals, and deep harbor tones. Refined iconography differentiates key experiences within the property, from meeting spaces to waterfront dining, while maintaining continuity across the system. Tactile finishes and layered materials reinforce a sense of authenticity and craft.
Photography and illustration articulate the breadth of the guest experience. Imagery moves fluidly from conference moments to cocktail hours, harbor walks to wedding celebrations, presenting the hotel as both energetic and intimate. The tone is approachable and assured. The tagline “Sea the Difference” reinforces the hotel’s relationship to its setting while underscoring its service-driven hospitality.
Across signage, collateral, digital communications, and on-site applications, the identity system enhances legibility and recognition. Each touchpoint contributes to a unified guest journey, allowing the brand to feel cohesive despite its complexity.
