About this project
The Sudbury rose on the former site of Boston’s Government Center Garage, a physically dominant structure whose removal transformed multiple downtown blocks. Its absence made way for new housing, parks, streets, and public space, shifting the area from a place people passed through to one where they could live, gather, and belong.
As the condominium component of a larger mixed-use development, The Sudbury Residences needed to establish a distinct identity while contributing to a broader vision for a new downtown neighborhood. The brand had to communicate permanence and sophistication, while also introducing a more connected and contemporary way of living in the city.
Our work focused on articulating that transformation. The tagline “This Changes Everything” became both message and mindset, capturing the scale of change happening across the site and reframing downtown Boston as a desirable residential destination. Messaging emphasized convergence and connection, positioning The Sudbury at the intersection of Beacon Hill, the North End, the West End, and downtown itself.
The visual identity was designed around ideas of perspective, movement, and evolution. A kaleidoscopic mark inspired by shifting viewpoints became the foundation of a flexible graphic system, reflecting the energy and diversity of the surrounding neighborhoods. Rich color, confident typography, and layered visual patterns established a contemporary residential presence that felt urban, cultural, and forward-looking rather than traditionally luxurious.
Brand identity and messaging were developed across print, digital, advertising, and environmental applications, creating a cohesive framework for introducing both the residences and the larger vision for the neighborhood. Together, language and design positioned The Sudbury as a catalyst for downtown transformation and a new model for living in the center of the city.
