Gaila

A thoughtful identity rooted in care and craft

We partnered with The Gaila Fund to name and create the brand identity for Gaila, a nonprofit developing a prototype headdress designed to support patients undergoing cancer treatment. The identity balances comfort, dignity, and modern simplicity to reflect the organization’s mission with warmth and clarity.

We named Gaila which is a play on three words: gala, gele (the Nigerian headdress on which the Gaila is modeled) and Gail, the Milton professor of international business who designed the prototype.

THE CHALLENGE

Create a thoughtful, approachable brand that could communicate support and confidence for patients while maintaining a modern, fashion-inspired sensibility suited to a nonprofit with a design-driven product.

THE SOLUTION

We developed the name, logo, and visual system using gentle forms, soft illustration, and refined typography. The identity is compassionate and uplifting, giving the product and organization a clear, human-centered expression across print and branded materials.

Rooted in the elegance of the 19th-century cameo, the logo features a refined female profile as a symbol of enduring beauty.

Paired with restrained, contemporary typography, it creates a mark that feels both timeless and modern.

Gaila’s palette pairs vivid red and soft rose with warm gray and deep plum, balancing energy and warmth with depth and refinement for a timeless, contemporary feel.
