Turner Hill

A refined, heritage-driven identity for a reimagined 19th-century estate on Boston’s North Shore

Set on the spectacular grounds of a historic Ipswich estate, Turner Hill offers a rare blend of architectural grandeur, championship-level golf, and refined country living. The brand needed to honor the property’s storied past while presenting a fresh, elevated identity that would attract new members—golfers, families, and enthusiasts of the Turner Hill lifestyle.

The Challenge

The challenge was to create a brand that matched Turner Hill’s unmistakable sense of place.

With its surrounding gardens, elegant stonework, and one of New England’s most picturesque golf courses, the estate was rich with inspiration yet lacked a cohesive, contemporary visual identity.

The club needed a mark that conveyed heritage without feeling dated, and sophistication without feeling formal, all while appealing to a diverse membership—from avid golfers to families seeking an upscale country lifestyle.

Turner Hill branding featuring a refined peacock emblem inspired by the estate’s carved architectural details.

The Solution

We grounded the identity in one of Turner Hill’s most extraordinary architectural details: the peacocks carved into the estate’s woodwork and stone.

These motifs—handcrafted by European artisans brought to Ipswich in the late 19th century—embody the founders’ desire to recreate the grandeur they had admired while traveling throughout Europe.

Drawing from these historic carvings, we created an elegant, modern interpretation of the peacock—regal yet unfussy, elegant yet energetic—capturing both the estate’s heritage and the vibrancy of contemporary club life.

The custom portfolio inspired by 19th century bookbinding, held individually bound booklets that delivered a tailored, museum-quality storytelling experience.

The palette of deep navy, heritage green, and bright sporting blue reflects the rich colors seen in a peacock feather. Set in a crest-like frame, it is inspired by the golf club culture, creating a visual system that feels both timeless and fresh.

The identity was extended across stationery, scorecards, apparel, and environmental signage, ensuring every touchpoint—from the first welcome at the gate to the last putt on the green—felt cohesive, elevated, and unmistakably Turner Hill.

A refined peacock motif drawn from the estate’s carved details becomes the signature of the brand.

Abaya Libre’s calligraphic elegance echoes the handcrafted character of the original mansion.

Iridescent peacock hues—deep teal, rich blue, and bright green—anchor the visual system in the estate’s history.

The Results

The brand honored the estate’s storied past while giving Turner Hill a strong, modern presence that resonates with today’s members.

The identity strengthened pride within the community, increased the desirability of club merchandise, and elevated the overall experience for golfers, residents, and event guests alike.

By reintroducing the estate’s hand-carved peacocks as an iconic, contemporary symbol, Turner Hill now stands apart as a club and resort-like estate that celebrates its history without feeling historic—a place where European craftsmanship and New England beauty meet a lifestyle of sport, leisure, and enduring elegance.
